He who will die and kill for honor
Origin: Hey there if you interested in knowing the origin of samurai please refer to https://mobilewallpapercollection-uv15o6.blogspot.com/2022/05/blog-post.html
Dark Side Part II:
1.Tameshigiri(Weapon Testing)
Tameshigiri can be translated as "test cut". Its not just a test of a weapon but also of the user. The test generally includes cutting things such as bamboo, wood or armor
If either of the sword or the user is not prepared, the task wouldn't go as smooth as it should be. A great example can be seen in the movie 47 Ronin where the half-breed
cuts the branch of a tree with no effort where as the other man can't even scratch. However what we are interested here is the dark side.
Similar to Tameshgiri 'Suemonogiri' is another ritual where weapons are tested by cutting tied objects and what's horrifying is to know that these tied objects are actually
the dead bodies of people. These are of the criminals and dead peoples. The more ugly fact is that these mutilation count was sometimes inscribed on the sword as a seal of quality.
2. The practice of Kirisute gomen
Kirisute gomen can be roughly translated as " Authorization to cut and leave". This practice basically gave the samurai the license to kill. the thing was that if a person insults the honor of the samurai, the samurai can kill the person freely
given that he has some alibi witnessing the insult which can be later proved in the court.
Being such a ruthless practice the authorities were very serious regarding the use of it. A misuse of such power can lead to a public execution by beheading the whole family of the samurai.
