The Mummy is Deadbut Alive at the same moment
Origin:
Around 2600 BCE during the fourth and fifth Dynasties, Egyptians began to mummify the dead intentionally. The practice continued over a span of 2000 years into the Roman period. The whole reason of doing so was completely based on sacred believe. It was believed that the mummified body was the home of the soul and spirit. It was believed that what we call as experience of life was basically a cohesion of the elements namely the Ka, Ba and Akh. The 'Ka' is the physical body of the person which is the home of the rest two. The 'Ba' being the soul which was free and can fly out of the tomb. The 'Akh' can be translated as spirit which had to go through the final judgement which decides the fate of its afterlife.
The Dark Part:
Many of the people reading this might not know it but there was an important ceremony after the mummification process and it was called as "Opening the Mouth". Basically it was believed that by this ceremony the person regains his senses and control over his mummy and now can speak and eat. From here on the dark sides reveals many of the rulers where cursed and abandoned from entering the Afterlife which entraps their 'akh' in the 'Ka' and these rulers can come back to life again with their mummified body to do what they do the best ie. Conquer.
What do you think should your body be mummified or not.
